Gospel: John 17:1-11
After Jesus had spoken these words, he looked up to heaven and said, ‘Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all people, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do. So now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had in your presence before the world existed.
‘I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything you have given me is from you; for the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. I am asking on their behalf; I am not asking on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those whom you gave me, because they are yours. All mine are yours, and yours are mine; and I have been glorified in them. And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one.

Reflection:
Our gospel for today is from John 17:1-11 and is all about the Ascension. In our gospel, we are again reminded of the glory of Jesus as our Savior. His glory and power radiate to us all that we must remember how He ascends into heaven. His ascension will always be our greatest hope that He will always be there for us even in our hardest times.
The ascension of Jesus is always a reminder that Jesus wanted us that His words will enter our hearts. Jesus is praying for those who belong to Him. he is praying for you and me. This is what the gospel from John 17:1-11. We all can rely on the prayers Jesus uttered from His mouth. As He look up to the sky, to the heavens, He is thinking about us.
In John 17:1-11, Jesus speaks from depths of his heart. He tells us of the Father’s love. This is a reminder that we all has something to wait us in heaven if we do good here on earth. We see Jesus acknowledge His divine purpose. He prays for us as He sacrifice Himself for us. He is willing to do all trials and struggles for the redemption of humanity.
John 17:1-11 shows us eternal life that Jesus offered to mankind. It means that we need to know the only true God whom God the Father sent to us. To experience this everlasting life, we need to digest the true meaning of our existence. We also need to reflect the connection we have with that of the sacrifices of Jesus.
In conclusion, people as we are should know first-hand how to experience the divinity of God. We must learn to do the things that God wants us to do. We should live to the expectation of Jesus and remember how He died on the cross for us all. – Clea | Helpline PH
