Gospel: Matthew 4:12-17, 23-25
Now when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee. He left Nazareth and made his home in Capernaum by the lake, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, so that what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
‘Land of Zebulun, land of Naphtali,
on the road by the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles-
the people who sat in darkness
have seen a great light,
and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death
light has dawned.’
From that time Jesus began to proclaim, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.’
Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people. So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought to him all the sick, those who were afflicted with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, and paralytics, and he cured them. And great crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.

Reflection:
Today’s gospel is from Matthew 4:12-17, 23-25 and this tells us the story of Jesus while He was in Galilee. Jesus went over to Galilee teaching in the Jewish synagogues. He became the “light” of the people of those regions. His teachings and healings were very clear to the people.
In Matthew 4:12-17, 23-25, Jesus calls His people to change. He spent His time telling people about the nearness of the Kingdom of God. He lived His life teaching people and preaching everything to prepare them.
Now, we are all in the new era of our times and the world is very difficult to handle. Yet, if we try to imagine how Jesus spent His life preaching, we can realize something. Matthew 4:12-17, 23-25 is telling us to be like Jesus in our own little ways.
How are we going to be like Jesus as we are living in a modern time already? The answer is very simple. We have to teach and preach others of the thing we learned about the Kingdom of Heaven. If you are a teacher by profession, you can share and let your students know about the teachings of Jesus.
We will be the vessel of information to teach the younger generations about God. The gospel from Matthew 4:12-17, 23-25 is a very important gospel. It is a manifestation that Jesus never failed to remind His people to pray. The value of the teachings of Jesus will surpass everything even to the ends of the earth.
Jesus is the greatest teacher, preacher and mentor of all. All his teachings and preaching are the best. As the children of God, we are bound to care for these teachings until the end. Jesus wants us all to understand that His teachings are the greatest lesson in life. – Clea | Helpline PH
