Today’s Gospel Reflection: Luke 18:1-8

Gospel: Luke 18:1-8

Then Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray always and not to lose heart. He said, ‘In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor had respect for people. In that city there was a widow who kept coming to him and saying, “Grant me justice against my opponent.” For a while he refused; but later he said to himself, “Though I have no fear of God and no respect for anyone, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will grant her justice, so that she may not wear me out by continually coming.” ’ And the Lord said, ‘Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long in helping them? I tell you, he will quickly grant justice to them. And yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?’

Luke 18:1-8

Reflection:

Our gospel for today is from Luke 18:1-8 which taught us to never stop praying. Perseverance is a must for this year is a year full of struggles and pain.

In the Middle Ages, pilgrims are always there. They would travel for thousands of miles on a spiritual journey to Jerusalem. People would like to see the places where Jesus walked. These people have their own personal reasons of doing so. They knew that if they did that their life would change for the better..

In Luke 18:1-8 it is clear in telling us to always be persistent in looking and following God. Even if it means to climb mountains and cross rivers. Even if means fighting bad weather or crossing territories with strange people. If you are to look for happiness and then it leads you to Jesus.

The journey itself can make a difference. In Luke 18:1-8 the parable of the persistent woman and the judge. Jesus also wants us to persevere in prayer. It tells us to make way in praying because this is the only help that will give us strength towards the end.

Luke 18:1-8 is a clear message of persistence and dedication to God. In these times where we can no longer predict what will happen to our countries, prayer is strong. We need to pray that God will not abandon us and will always be there for us all the time.

The world today is chaotic and people are fighting wars and killing each other. They don’t anymore pity the women and children who were most affected by their actions. Like we are all Christians, the only thing we can do is PRAY and don’t stop praying. Prayer can change everything.

Lord, we will never stop praying until the end of our lives. Keep your strong hands always above our head and protect us all in your abode. Amen. – Clea | Helpline PH
