I am surviving, I guess? I work on a terrible office job for 6.5 years and I need to change my job to something else, but I am kinda worried at the job market, thus I feel conflicted about what to do, because I am mentally exhausted, due to horrible bosses. I should not bother you with these things. I am sorry, I don’t know why I am doing this. I just wanted to say II bought “The love Complete”, a few months ago, but I didn’t find time to read. I hope you are okay and healthy.
It’s tough to look for a new job when your current job is draining you. I know the feeling, went through it myself last year. But forcing yourself while still working is better than dealing with the stress of being unemployed. Thanks for buying my books! Part of the reason why I’ve slowed down writing of the new one is to give people time to finish the others, I’m conscious that caonimas might have other things going on in their lives and so I don’t want to just spam books at people. But the new book is about 70% done at this point.

I was going to say one word, but I feel like writing more. I couldn’t really tell you why. Today, I went to the gym, which was okay (except for the 1.5hrs of stairmaster I forced myself to do because I’m trying to get fit but also seem to enjoy putting myself through pain). Then, I went to watch my friend’s baseball game (which isn’t even a sport people really play in my country but for some reason he plays it). The best part of the day is where I organised well thought out birthday gifts for a girl who I’ve liked for the better part of 18 months but she’s subtly signalled that she doesn’t like me in that way and doesn’t want to ruin our friendship, and then spent 4 hours having a dinner with her and our two friends where apparently our mutual friend caught me giving her “looks of love”. I then left the dinner and sadly went home to daydream about what life might be like if she did like me back. Now, I’m well aware of how pathetic all of this sounds, and yet, I don’t feel any desire to end it at all. Sue me. The silver lining of all this was that I got a notification in my email that this survey came out. So ultimately, this day went from decent, all the way down to the depths of shit, and then suddenly resolved into good. Thanks for reading kpopalypse!

I’m great, my life is improving and positive things lead to more positive things for me these days. I recently broke up with my girlfriend of 2.5 years and realized I’m not into having partners at all, a huge weight is off my chest now that I won’t force myself to date or get into relationships anymore and I have more energy than ever before.
I’ve also been working out for a year now and it’s cool to see how my body has gotten stronger and I can lift heavy shit at work and climb higher grades with more control and grace.
I also have more time for friends and made some awesome climbing friends, so yeah, life is good for me atm.
While having partners is good, it’s not for everyone. Glad you’re enjoying life!

I’m sorry to inform you that he’s recently threatened to post again, although he hasn’t yet at the time of writing and probably won’t ever (inserting this as reverse psychology to get him posting again). I seriously doubt he’ll get back to his old frequency though even if he does follow through. Now that he’s had a slim taste of freedom away from the k-pops, I think PTSD from following the NewJeans court drama will haunt him and keep him away from ever making more than a slow trickle of postings.
My cat was labelled a ‘domestic shorthair’ when we got her from the RSPCA shelter, but that’s just because the RSPCA don’t always know what they have and she was just a kitten then so her floof hadn’t had a chance to grow out yet, so her hair was short back then. I’m no expert on cat breeds but my girlfriend suspects she is a half Norwegian Forest Cat.

Good! I’ve been getting into Korea’s live idol scene this year and am flying over there for the second time in about a week’s time to see some shows with a friend. Thanks for giving every artist an equal platform regardless of their size, I’d never have found out about the scene if it wasn’t for you featuring one group’s MV in your roundup!

annoyed because im an introvert and i have people to see every day of the week. with my dads cancer treatment taking him and my mom to a different country (im not rich we just dont have the resources here, and the country sent him away on their dime because our national health system failed him) everybody at home suddenly wants to see me and make sure im alright, distant family, family friends etc little do they know they are only burdening me further. oh well. also i have to see a bunch of high school friends who are back in town. oh just let me bury myself and hide until its all over. aside from all my uni nonsense, these are all just shit sprinkles on top of the shit sundae.

Wow your family sucks, get the hell out of there. I know that’s difficult with no money, but still, try to find a way. And don’t tell anyone who doesn’t need to know that you’re doing it or word will get back to your parents and they will find a way to sabotage you. Good! I finally have left food service for an office job and it hasn’t completed sucked out my soul yet, plus no longer being on my feet and being treated like an adult is a new experience. I am currently on a trip to a music festival with two of my best friends right now and I am afraid I am realizing that I might be in love with one of them, who I know does not feel that way about me. I think I will just get over it but the 7 hour drive back home will be slightly miserable. But it could be worse! I have been through the ringer with relationships this year so I much perfer feeling bad over physical violence

Realized recently that I probably never would have gotten as into kpop or Korean culture if not for your site consistently aggregating funny and fun things I care about, which means I probably wouldn’t have visited Korea last summer or even learned as much about music as a whole. Now I get nostalgic for Korea regularly and might join a Korean conversation table and go back with my partner someday.

Yes, take it from Kpopalypse The Oldest Human Alive, that I can relate and being old sucks. The worst thing about it for me is that I still look fairly young, so I get all the downsides of being old (body takes ages to heal, being annoyingly fragile) but none of the perks (can’t sit in the elderly section of the bus without being judged, can’t annoy young people by staring at them because I’m not old-looking enough for it to seem creepy). At least I’m way smarter now so that’s something at least until the dementia kicks in.

Although this is actually stupidly dangerous and you should definitely start searching for the exits as soon as you see a band do something like this, there’s a lesson here about something or other, I can’t quite put it into words but I hope you get the idea and procrastinate long enough on the suicide thing in order to get to the other side of how you’re feeling. Also, getting some pro help to get through it is a really good idea.

The average Kpopalypse readers is in their early 20s, which is definitely a slightly older demographic than most k-pop sites. Or is it? I don’t know but it feels like it, but since none of the other sites share their data as freely as Kpopalypse we may never know.

For the first time ever, slightly more men than women did the Kpopalypse survey! It’s true what they say, Kpopalypse really does cater to minorities! However the people who preferred not to disclose their gender may have all been females who tipped the balance…

If you’ve ever wondered if Kpopalypse readers are gay as fuck, the answer is, mostly yes! As usual only a third of readers identified as definitely not somewhere on the LGBT specrtrum, the rest of you were various levels of ChuuVes.

Question 7: How do you feel about k-pop song quality this year?
The same can’t be said for this year’s songs, which definitely received a roasting from quite a few readers. However there were good songs this year, you just had to dig for them. The Kpopalypse favourites list is coming less than two months away so expect it fondly!
Question 8: Asian Junkie has stopped writing recently. Why?
He did indicate that he’s probably going to start posting again soon, so it was probably just the sportball. I bet I don’t even get a simple ‘thank you’ for keeping his site relevant during his absence by turning it into a meme… tsk tsk, these sport people, no morals at all…
Question 9: Since the third book in the four-part Shin Hana series “Love Carousel” has now sold over 100 copies I now have to write a post helping readers identiy all the TripleS members as I promised to do when the book hit this milestone. If you have any hints for identifying TripleS members (besides “Chaeyeon has big boobs”, we know that much already) please put them below. This question is optional. Kpopalypse is not liable for any negative health effects experienced as a result of attempting to accurately answer this question.

Appreciation of Kpopalypse games is split more or less down the middle. However appreciation of sexualisation is a much more one-sided affair. While some people do complain about (supposed) sexualisation in my computer games, survey results show that readers are actually much more likely to complain about games in their sexualisation!

My main takeaway from the answers to this question is that most of you just come here on a regular basis for no particular reason other than it’s on your reading schedule and you feel like it, and I might as well stop doing all the posting on social networks that I do because relatively speaking, nobody looks at any of that. Oh and for those who are worried, never fear – Kpopalypse is not planning on removing the RSS feed. In fact I forgot I even had an RSS feed. As long as WordPress allows me to continue to have it, it will be there.

That’s okay. Kpopalypse is here for you, for the forseeable future, or at least until I get much older and crustier than I am now.
That 10 min video of K-pop double standards was a 10 minute waste of time. There was a whole bunch of shite in it, but here are 2 things. First, if you’re going to say that male idols can gain weight and not get hate, you’re going to have to do better than just putting up photo of Shindong He was “stout” since debut, before anyone gave a fuck about K-pop. You can’t get hate for putting on pounds if you start out heavy and stay heavy. And everybody knows that everyone loves Shindong; he’s like the most high profile guy in the industry. So if you’re trying to make a point about double standards, could you possibly give me just one more example? I guess not.
Second, at the time of this video, Taeil was accused of sexual assault at minimum (he wound up being indicted for “special quasi-rape”; “quasi” because she was intoxicated & couldn’t consent, and “special” because it was a gang-rape… lovely). But the video says that Taeil was “involved in a criminal investigation concerning the harassment and exploitation of women.” WTF? If you’re going to make a bunch of generalized accusations of double standards in your video, and back them up with ticky tack, flimsy examples such as some guy touching Irene’s shoulder with his elbow, don’t go minimizing violence against women, okay?
Honestly I think Kookie and the Lits just churn out videos on a schedule and don’t double-check things because they gotta meet those video-making KPIs or CEO Kookie will come to their houses and take a lookie at their cookies…. that or it’s just an AI that does them, and we all know how AI hallucinates all the time. Maybe AI can hallucinate a world where Orange Caramel has a comeback.

I was going to put something motivational here but then I thought that was a bit presumptuous. I don’t know what your work is so maybe it sucks and procrastination is the right decision.
Growing older and experiencing more real-life injustices is making me more cynical as a defensive mechanism that has proven very practical and helpful. It’s growing harder to maintain both optimism and cynicism without the affectionate daily joys of my ‘forever on hiatus’ favourite quirky K-pop group and my self-humbling, cringey, fun-loving and fun-spreading fan-boying.
Luckily for me, Kpopalypse, continues to be a (mostly) sane place of satire, reality, and (Australian) humour.I’ve only said this once before in my life, but I’ve also been learning to be more free with honest praise and compliments, especially for the truly unique individuals who do good in the world:

I do talk about it a little here but Australians are a tiny minority of readers and I think they’d get really sick of constant political content. As for the rest of the world they’d probably just be comfused and bored, because Australian politics is actually quite confusing and boring, even to most Australians.
