Senator Proposes Allowance for Teachers Assigned Beyond Hometowns and Municipalities

Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa has introduced legislation aimed at granting allowances to public school educators who are assigned to locations outside their hometowns, municipalities, and provinces. The proposed Distance Incentive Allowance for Public School Teachers Act, also known as Senate Bill 432, intends to offer a monthly allowance of P2,000 for teachers assigned to a city, municipality, or province that is different from their place of residence.

In addition, teachers assigned to cities or municipalities in other provinces will receive a P4,000 allowance for teachers. Dela Rosa recognizes the higher transportation costs these educators incur while working away from home. This bill aims to enhance public school teachers’ faith in the government and offer additional financial support.
