Quick Rice Allowance Release: Teachers’ Demand

Quick Rice Allowance Release: Teachers’ Demand

A group of educators, known as the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Philippines, is making a strong appeal to the Department of Education (DepEd) and the national government to expedite the distribution of a one-time rice allowance to all public school teachers. This initiative, referred to as the Quick Rice Allowance Release, is a significant assistance to teachers amidst the current economic climate.

This call to action is rooted in Administrative Order No. 2, s. 2022, signed by President Marcos in December 2022. The order entitles all government employees, including public school teachers, to a one-time 25 kilos rice allowance. However, ACT Philippines reports that this benefit, part of the Quick Rice Allowance Release, remains unreceived in most regions.

The group is not only advocating for the swift release of this allowance but also for the quality of the rice provided. ACT Philippines has received complaints about the rice distributed in Nueva Ecija, Mindoro, and Bacolod City being inedible. The group is calling on the DepEd and the national government to ensure that the rice is fit for human consumption.

It is crucial that the government acts promptly to ensure that this aid, the Quick Rice Allowance Release, reaches its intended recipients in a timely manner and in a condition that is suitable for consumption.
