Legarda pushes No Homework Policy Bill
Senator Grace Poe has filed a bill that seeks to establish the no homework policy in primary and secondary schools.
Senate Bill 882 or the proposed No Homework Law aims to limit the homework given to students.
Poe said that more homework does not result to better student performance.
“More homework gives additional workload to our already overworked teachers and takes away valuable time that could have been with family and other activities,” she said in her explanatory note.
The measure aims to limit the homework given to students from Kinder to Grade 12 during weekdays to promote the welfare of teachers and students.
The measure aims to institutionalize the Department of Education Memorandum Circular No. 392 which advised teachers to limit the giving of homework on weekdays and to avoid from giving homework on weekends.
