Biliran to hire jobless teachers for remedial classes

The provincial government of Biliran is looking for 500 unemployed education graduates who are willing to teach students remedial classes for one month.

Biliran Governor Gerard Roger Espina said the more than two years of off-campus learning affected the competency of students.

“In some cases, there has been a regression of learning and some students are struggling with the return of face-to-face class after two years of distance learning,” Espina said in a phone interview on Monday.

“In line with this, we will create a program that will conduct remedial lessons to students who are in need to address the educational lag in our province. This is in line with our intention and passion to help the last, the least, and the lost,” he added.

The tutoring class will last for one month, Espina said.

Education graduates who will take part will receive a certificate from the Department of Education (DepEd).

Those who are interested to apply will have to submit their application at the provincial government satellite offices.
