DepEd records 22.5 million learners for SY 2022-2023

The Department of Education has recorded 22.5 million learners from both public and private schools, four days before the opening of classes.

Based on Learner Information System (LIS) as of Aug. 18, Thursday showed that the number of registered learners has reached a total of 22,517,657.

DepEd data showed that 22,404,719 students are enrolled in formal education while 112,938 were enrolled in the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program.

Based on DepEd’s latest data, 19, 726, 436 learners enrolled in public schools; 2, 603, 929 in private schools; and 74, 354 in State Universities and Colleges / Local Universities and Colleges (SUCs/LUCs).

DepEd Spokesperson Michael Poa said that there are no instructions yet to extend the enrollment period.

Poa also reiterated DepEd’s appeal to parents and guardians to not wait until the last day of enrollment.

“Yung mga hindi pa nag-e-enroll, kung pwede, mag-enroll na para mabigyan yung DepEd ng paghahanda,” Poa said in a Manila Bulletin interview.

“Kung hindi natin alam kung ilan ang papasok sa isang classroom, hindi rin tayo makakapaghanda so sana mai-enroll na,” he added.
