Enrichment class for SY 2021-2022 is absurd and illogical in five (5) gripping reasons

Enrichment class for SY 2021-2022 is somewhat a question to many parents and teachers. Recently, there are many mixed opinions about its importance and purpose. So what is this enrichment class for SY 2021-2022?

Enrichment class for SY 2021-2022 is for learners who have an average grade of 75-79 in every subject. This is one of the strategies in the Learning Recovery Plan of the department. Its purpose is to improve the learner’s level of attainment of the MELCs. It is to ensure the learner’s readiness to the next grade level.

So, why the many questions? Here are the five (5) gripping reasons why enrichment class is absurd and illogical:

1. There is no sense in going back to the school when students know that they already PASSED.

If I put myself in the shoes of these students, I will never go back to school when I knew that I passed already.

2. The grades will not be re-computed so what’s the point of doing so?

Students will expect that their grades will not be re-computed by this enrichment. There is no motivation at all.

3. Students won’t digest anything given to them during vacations.

Even if we spoon-feed the students with activities that suit the MELCs, we know that it doesn’t matter. They won’t digest it since their mindset is it is already their vacation.

4. Let’s all be real. Students and parents will not sign the parents’ consent at all.

Parents will somehow not sign the consent when they know that they have that option. The enrichment class for SY 2021-2022 is voluntary and parent’s consent is a must.

5. In the end, teachers will still double their efforts in the next school year for these students to “learn” real.

It is already foreseen. Teachers will have to double their effort in the next school year. They need to re-instill the knowledge that these students needed. The modules didn’t provide them with what they needed the most. Face to face learning is still the best.
