Keep graduation ceremonies dignified and simple
The Department of Education (DepEd) reminded that the conduct limited in-person graduation and end-of-school-year (ESOY) rites should remain “simple and dignified.”
DepEd Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction Diosdado San Antonio, said that like in past graduation rites before the pandemic, the ceremonies should be conducted solemnly.
“Dapat hindi magarbo, dignified at simple lang at kahit tapos na ang, hindi magandang ang ceremony ay maging political platform,” San Antonio said.
In Memorandum No. 43 s. of 2022 issued May 10, DepEd has set the guidelines on the conduct of graduation rites for SY 2021-2022.
As stated in the DepEd memo, schools located in Alert Levels 1 and 2 areas are allowed to have limited face-to-face graduation ceremonies.
DepEd allowed limited face-to-face graduation rites to give students a “sense of normalcy without risking their health and safety.”
“Schools must obtain parental consent for learners to attend the face-to-face ceremony,” the agency stressed.
